In 1921, an American ice-cream maker named
Christian Nelson, after observing a little boy who hesitated between an ice cream and a jar of chocolate,
had a genius idea:
Cover the ice-cream with some chocolate.
The ice cream with the stick dates from 1922.
Charles Gervais, back from
USA in 1928 bought the company from
Barnabé Martinez, the inventor of the frozen bar to produce the famous chocolate-covered ice lollies.

Note that the character is called KIM and that will be used for they "Kim Pouss" and the "Kim Cônes".
